Over 50 Years of Camping Memories!
Williamsburg Campground has been a family-run tradition for 50 years. Current co-owner Donna Fout’s parents bought a campground in 1973 that had 60 sites. In the 80’s, Donna and her husband Gary bought the campground from her parents. In 1997 they acquired the campground next door, creating a camping heaven with a total of 370 sites sprawled across 180 acres. For 49 of those 50 years, the campground was a franchise operation. Last year, Donna and Gary decided to rebrand their business as The Williamsburg Campground.
“Once you come off the interstate, our visitors pass a residential area then it starts to turn woodsy,” says Donna. “That’s because that’s our property and we keep it like that. Campers don’t want to feel like they’re in a neighborhood when they’re looking for an escape. They feel like they’re out in the woods here and people like the charm of that. We like to say the campground is the last small town in America. Every week our campground becomes its own community with our guests enjoying time away from their busy lives to reconnect with each other and forge new friendships around the campfire and at our activities. Memories to last a lifetime are made every day.”
Located just two miles from I-64, the campground is ideally situated so people can hang out and enjoy the great outdoors or take advantage of all the nearby attractions- such as Busch Gardens, Water Country USA, Go Ape!, Colonial Williamsburg, Jamestown, and Yorktown- or combine the best of all worlds and do a little of both.
Williamsburg Campground can accommodate everything for glamping campers to the largest Class A motorhomes. For RVers, visitors can request a variety of spots from a regular, full-hookup site, to what they call their deluxe patio site that includes brick patios, outdoor furniture with umbrellas, and firepits. Some sites even have concrete pads, for quicker set up and tear down plus all the deluxe amenities.
There’s plenty to do on the property for those who want to hang around at the beautifully wooded campground. They offer a heated pool, splash pad, two Jumping Pillows, Gravity Rail, geocaching, gem mining, and a nine hole disc golf course. They also have bath houses throughout the property, a camp store for necessities, a clubhouse with laundry facilities, an activity room, and a pavilion where groups can meet. In addition, the grounds feature nature trails, a dog park, and dog wash- so yes, they are animal friendly! There’s even free cable and WiFi. It’s no wonder Williamsburg Campground won TripAdvisor’s Traveler’s Choice “Best of the Best” award in 2022.
The campground also provides themed activities. Kids can be entertained each week with theme weekend activities. There are princess weekends and superhero weekends, but one of Donna’s favorite times of the year is Halloween. They have four Halloween weekends that include costume parades, campsite decorating, and trick or treating throughout the campgrounds.
